Hagere Yilma

Senior Manager, Health Information and Trust

Hagere Yilma is the senior program manager for KFF’s Health Information and Trust Initiative. A communication researcher by training, she helps lead KFF’s efforts to identify gaps in health information and beliefs, strengthen health communication, build trust, and translate evidence into practical resources for health professionals, media, and policymakers.

At KFF, Yilma manages strategic initiatives on health misinformation, including serving as editor of the Monitor. She collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and external partners across public health, journalism, and policy to identify emerging trends, develop solutions, and advance strategies to counter misinformation. Her work aims to expand access to accurate, trusted health information so people can make informed health decisions.

Yilma holds a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience from Colgate University, a Master of Public Health in community-oriented primary care from the Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University, where she also earned a Ph.D. in social and behavioral sciences.
